How Sezzle Works.

Sezzle is a payment solution that gives you the freedom to buy now and pay later - with no interest!

When you place an order through Sezzle, our unique approvals system reviews your account to determine what sort of repayment plan we can offer. In most cases, it's 25% of the order total due up-front (also called your "down payment" or "first installment"), with the remaining amount divided up across three more installments, each due two weeks apart.

When your order is placed, Sezzle pays the merchant in-full for the order immediately - so the merchant has their funds and is able to process your order just like if you had paid them in full with a credit card! This isn't layaway, so the merchant fulfills your order within their normal shipping and processing times.

Our checkout is straight forward - simply shop at a merchant that offers Sezzle, select "Sezzle" at checkout, and we walk you through the rest of the process.

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the catch?
There's no catch. We don't charge interest, and we only charge fees if a payment fails or you need to adjust the date of your payments more than once per order. We also only run a soft credit check (or "soft inquiry"), so there's no negative hit to your credit score.

Are there requirements to use Sezzle?
Yes, you'll need:
  • Be 18 years of age or older
  • Have a US or Canadian phone number that can receive texts
  • Have a working email address
  • Have a non-prepaid payment method available
    • For shoppers in the US and Canada, this can be a bank account, a debit card, or a credit card

How do I apply?
If the items in your cart are eligible for payments with Sezzle, the option will be presented at checkout. After confirming your phone number, you'll be sent an SMS message to confirm your identity. You'll then set up your payment method with Sezzle and accept the terms of your payment plan.

I was declined for an order - why?
One of the great benefits of using Sezzle is our ability to evaluate customer limits and potential approvals with every purchase attempt. Our automatic system reviews how long you've been a Sezzle shopper, the information you provided at sign up (the soft credit check), any order history with Sezzle, among a few other factors. Because of our unique approval process, including the fact that we don't have fixed limits, we're able to provide our shoppers with a completely free service. This approval process is entirely automated and is not something we are able to override.

Here are some additional options to get an order approved:
Start small!
First-time shoppers are often approved for purchases around $50-$200 initially.
As you use Sezzle and successfully pay off orders on time, we're usually able to approve larger orders.

Verify your account was created correctly
Make sure all of your account information is accurate - for example, entering the wrong birth date or misspelling your name can cause you to be declined for orders. Learn more about updating account information here.

Double-check your payment method
If you don't have a payment method tied to your account, or we aren't able to charge it (because it's expired or there aren't enough funds available), you won't be able to place any new orders. Learn more about adding payment methods here.

Check for failed payments, or pay off outstanding installments
If you have a failed payment on your account, you won't be able to place new orders until it's paid off. Learn more about failed payments here. If you have existing unpaid orders, they may also prevent you from being able to place a new order. Paying off existing orders entirely may allow you to place a new order. What if I make a return?
When you make a return, a partial or full refund will be issued based on the items returned and the payments owed to Sezzle will be adjusted accordingly. If there is a delay in TSC Apparel registering a return Sezzle will issue a new payment due date for the items you decided to keep. What if I can't make a payment?
Please reach out to Sezzle's customer service team and they'll be happy to look into the options available. You can contact them in the "Sezzle app" or at "Sezzle.com".

Are there late fees?
A late fee may be charged if a 4 interest-free installments payment cannot be collected. Please see"Sezzle.com terms" for full details.

I ran into an issue at checkout.
  • Typically, there are two areas where shoppers run into issues while trying to check out with Sezzle - getting to the Sezzle login screen itself, and logging in to your Sezzle account while making a purchase.
  • If you don't see Sezzle on the store's website (even if we used to be there), or if you're trying to finish the checkout process and are not being asked to log in to Sezzle, we ask you work with the store directly. There is a chance they have either deactivated Sezzle or they're experiencing general checkout issues. The merchant will be able to let you know what payment methods they're currently accepting, and they'll also be able to work with us directly if there is some sort of technical issue.
  • If you're able to navigate to the login screen and run into issues logging in, please review this link to troubleshoot any issues regarding logging into your Sezzle account.
  • If you were able to log in and got declined, please review this link to understand why orders get declined.
  • If you were able to get to the login screen but experienced some other kind of issue, please use the "Submit Request" button at the top of the page to get in touch - and provide any screenshots you may have so we can best troubleshoot!

How secure is Sezzle?
Security is critically important to us here at Sezzle. We undergo quarterly audits for Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance to ensure all the data you provide as well as the data associated with your orders is safe. PCI compliance is the industry-standard method of gauging security, and we are currently certified up to Level 1, which is the highest level attainable.
